How to crochet a large flower motif free pattern and instruction by Avyastore.
I love flowers; describing their beauty, fragrance, looks will take me ages. I write patterns that are inspired by nature and flowers.
Today I have a nice pattern for all those who love nature and specifically flowers. Large flower motif design is for advanced beginners. The pattern can be made using wool or cotton yarn.
Materials list required for making the Large Flower Motif
For this project, I have used Hobby India cream color yarn.
Steel Hook size 165 mm
Scissors
Tapestry needle for weaving in ends.

sl st = Slip Stitch
sc = Single Crochet
ch = Chain
hdc = Half Double Crochet
dc = Double Crochet
tr = Treble Crochet
Dc2tog = Double crochet two together
Dc3tog = Double crochet three together
pc = Picot
Notes
- Ch3 (made at the beginning of a round ) to be considered as dc.
- Each petal is worked separately.
- Each petal is separated by making 2 nos of Picots.
- * = Repeat the instructions from this point
Instruction for making the Large Flower Motif
Round 1
- Start the round with a Magic Ring.
- Ch3, * ch2 space, 1 dc.
- Repeat from * for 3 times more.
Round 2
- (Ch 2, 1 dc) consider as 1st Dc2tog, ch 3 space, 1 Dc2 tog on the 1st dc of the previous round. Ch2.
- Repeat 4 times (Ch 2,1 DC2tog, ch3,1 DC2tog). Sl st to close. Sl st to close.
Round 3
- (Ch 2, 2 dc) consider as 1st Dc3tog, ch 3 space, 1 Dc3tog in the 3 ch space between the two Dc2tog of the previous round, Ch7
- Repeat (CH7, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog) 4times.
- For closing ch3, 1 tr.
Round 4
- 1sc, ch 5, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog.
- Ch 5, sc in the center of the Ch7 space of the previous round. Ch 5.
- Repeat (Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog, ch5, 1sc, ch5) four times, sl st.
Round 5
- For a cluster (Ch3 (dc),1dc, ch 2 space, 2 dc).
- Ch 4,Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog, ch 4
- Repeat [Cluster, Ch 4, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog, ch 4] 4 times. sl st to end the round.
Starting the Petal of the Large Flower Motif.
Round 6
Ch3, 4 dc, ch 2 space, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog (in the ch3 space between the 2 Dc3tog), ch 2 space, 5 dc.
Round 7
Ch3, 1 dc increase, 4 dc, ch 2 space, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog (in the ch3 space between the 2 Dc3tog), ch 2 space, 6 dc (1 dc increase in the last).
Round 8
Ch3, 1 dc increase, 5 dc, ch 2 space, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog (in the ch3 space between the 2 Dc3tog), ch 2 space, 7 dc (1 dc increase in the last).
Round 9
Ch3, 1 dc decrease, 5 dc, 1 dc increase, ch 2 space, Dc3tog, ch3 space, Dc3tog (in the ch3 space between the 2 Dc3tog), ch 2 space, 1 dc with 1 dc increase, 5 dc, with 1 dc decrease.
Round 10
1 sc, 1 hdc,5 dc (with 1 dc increase), ch3, 1 sc (in the ch3 space between the 2 Dc3tog) Ch 3, 1 dc increase,4 dc, 1hdc, sc.
Fasten off.
Repeat from Round 6 to 10 to make 4 more petals.
For the Border
Ed of all the petals, make an sc border. Above each of the 4 dc with ch 2 space (cluster), make 2 picots.
Using the pattern of Large Flower Motif
- As the motif is large, the pattern is perfect for tea coasters.
- Use the flower as a patch to decorate bags, pillow covers, etc.
